LOLA FEHR SCHOLARSHIP

Centennial Area Health Education Center (CAHEC) is proud to provide a need-based scholarship to nurse educators or aspiring nurse educators to attend the Nurse Educators Conference in the Rockies where they can learn best teaching practices from and network with fellow nurse educators.
The scholarship award will consist of a
Main Conference Registration
(Wednesday June 24th - Friday June 26th)
and a stipend of $400 for travel and lodging
Application Opens: November 1, 2025
Application Deadline: January 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM
Scholarship Recipient Notified via Email: Early February 2026
Scholarship Criteria
Eligibility:

The applicant must be a registered nurse who currently works or aspires to work in nursing education either in the clinical setting or academic setting

The applicant must demonstrate interest in professional development and advancing nursing education

The applicant must demonstrate financial need

The applicant must be able to attend the 2026 Nurse Educators Conference in the Rockies (June 24-26, 2026 in Breckenridge, Colorado)
Note: The applicant may not have been previously awarded the Lola Fehr Nurse Educators Conference scholarship.

Application for the Lola Fehr Nurse Educators Conference Scholarship will include:

Note: Multiple individuals from one institution are permitted to submit a scholarship application. However, each application will be reviewed on its own merit.
Committee:
The Scholarship Committee shall be made up of a minimum of three members of the Nurse Educators Conference Planning Committee and one representative from Centennial Area Health Education Center (CAHEC).
Note: Scholarship Committee members will recuse themselves from evaluation of known applicants.

Scoring:
You will be scored based on your ability to clearly articulate and address the essay questions and whether your plan to share information obtained at the Nurse Educator Conference is detailed, clear, realistic, and achievable.

Transferability of Scholarship Award:
Scholarships awarded for the Nurse Educators Conference are awarded to an individual and, as such, are non-transferable. Scholarships are awarded only for the current year’s Conference and cannot be deferred to any other conference or event.

The Lola Fehr Scholarship recognizes Lola's extensive contributions to Centennial Area Health Education Center's mission of building and supporting the health care workforce. As a long time CAHEC Board Member and NEC Nurse Planner, Lola has truly dedicated her professional life to the nursing profession and has gone above and beyond to make it better for nurses and nurse educators.

2023 CU Nursing Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award
Served as Executive Director of Colorado Nurses Association, NY State Nurses Association and Association of perioperative RNs (AORN)
Served as Treasurer for American Nurses Association
Served as President of the CU School of Nursing Alumni
Worked at the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence as the nurse planner for all continuing education
Led the Colorado Nurses on Boards Coalition (NOBC) a national movement that encourages nurses to get on boards of directors and commissions and teaches them how to have an impactful presence in those organizations
